The Theory
As I was reading a 'thing' that I don't want to disclose, I came across something interesting. A Theory that would help me explain a process that I knew but couldn't explain to someone, but now this would help me explain. Maybe.
Hans Seyle, aka 'the father of stress research' proposed the General Adaptation Syndrome Theory. The theory states that There are 3 stages for the process of stress.
1. Alarm
2.Resistance
3.Exhaustion
1. Alarm is the process where you identify the stress. Where you are alert about the stress when it is introduced.
2. Resistance, is when after the stress the body tries to recover itself from the initial shock, but still is on alert from the stressor. where the body adapts and learns to live with that stressor.
3. Exhaustion is the stage where after a long period of struggle with the stressor the body is drained psychically, emotionally and mentally.
This is the basic gist of the theory I read about. Being said this not everyone follows the same path. There are those who never have stress introduced in life, but will pretend the symptoms to achieve the final goal of attention.
But then there are genuine people who go through these stages and they are not taken seriously. Ignored and treated wrong. The extreme cases of exhaustion is different then the stage of alarm and resistance.
it takes time, to build up to that stage after which it gets difficult to respond to the next stressor.
