Friday the 13th

The morning, as I entered work, someone asked, about how my Friday the 13 was going so far,

Me being me didn’t realise, it was, and surprisingly it was quite day.

It was a very busy, jumpy, and tiring day,

Moving on to the evening arrangements, had to meet with almost 30 people back to back having intense conversations, with a bit of a noisy environment, taking a huge chunk of your energy.

I was like finally that’s it, cranked my headphones up, and tried resting my voice.

And I am walking on a cool night, silently, just people watching as usual.

I almost reached the station, drowned in my thoughts, dispatched from the reality, and I see this mobile screen , from the corner , and there is a girl standing in the dark, looking totally distressed.

She was looking for directions, as I was going to the same direction, I suggested I would walk her towards her destination.

As soon as I said it, a random thought just popped up, it is ‘Friday the 13th’ ,

What if she was feeling the jinx of it?

Which is when we started a conversation, when she sounded very tired and just wanted to be done with her day. Which made me feel like she was In distress.

I kept on checking on her asking her if she was okay, which I assumed annoyed her more than anything.

I am sure she thought ’I just wanna be home in my bed, and this guy would not shut up’

Which is when , I realised ,  we were on the wrong station.

When I checked it was a completely different station than the one she was trying to get to.

I am sure she had a lot going on in her head, and I couldn’t let her be wandering around in the middle of the night, when she already had a bad night going on, I did kinda relate to her in a way.

So I decided to walk her through,

She was hesitant at first, but I assured her that it’s okay, and if she had to follow Google maps it would be a longer route to which she agreed but I did say to her, ‘if you feel uncomfortable, run and scream’

I could not just leave her there in that state, but as we spoke more, I realised she was a really nice person in an awkward situation.

For me it was a really nice encounter, even though we were both super tired, we’re soo done with our day, and wanted some peace and quiet.

I did escort her to where she wanted to be and parted ways.

I have helped people before, with the door, up the stairs, with their bags, not like this

But I guess it was a ‘Friday the 13th’ effect.

I would love to know if she had a quiet night after that..
